Pictures snowshoeing in the back section of Partridge Run in the middle of February 2011.
February 13, 2011.

Cook Hill Valley. Looking down at the valley below, and the unplowed Shultes Road, which was largely indistinguishable from the fields around it.

Despite Tough Going. The puppy still looked thrilled. Both him and I struggled through the snow, but once we made it back to the snowmobile trail, it was real easy going the last 1/2 mile back to the truck.

The Other Part of Shultes Road. Speaking of how well plowed Shultes Road was, until you got past the last house, and it was unplowed and completely untraveled by snowmobiles to pack the snow down. The snow was 4-6 feet deep, and tough going.

Looks Decieving Well Plowed. It was real easy hiking down this road with the snowshoes on. Little did I know that the plowing would end, and me and the puppy would be going through 4 foot deep snow and sheets of ice.

Shultes Road. I saw the Seasonal Limited Use Highway Sign, and just assumed it would be plowed all the way back to Cook Hollow Road. I would soon find out that I would be wrong.

Recently Cut Area. They cut a swath along Boys Camp Road. The last time I was up in this portion of Partridge Run was 2003, which was quite a while ago. Not much has changed besides the timber harvest.

Snowmobile Trail Climbs Henry Hill. Henry Hill is not the most exciting and remarkable place, but the massive DEC gravel pit up top is always interesting to explore, and it has some views up top of surrounding hills and the Hunterland Hollow below.
